The Southeast Asia Basketball Association (SEABA) is a subzone of FIBA Asia consisting of countries from Southeast Asia. The SEABA Championship is a tournament between national teams, held once every two years. This tournament usually takes place in the middle of the year as many teams treat this tournament as a warm-up to the Southeast Asian Games.

The 6th SEA Championship for Women was held in Phuket, Thailand from 14-20 October. The tournament was held in a single round-robin format, and the top four teams would play in the semi-finals. The top-ranked team would play against the team ranked fourth for the semi-final round, and the second and third-ranked teams would play in the other semi-final match.
